New Caravanserai Area Coming to Brighton Fringe

Originally established at Camp Bestival in 2013, Caravanserai have hosted the very best festival talent for years, and their pop-up at this year’s Brighton Fringe will be no different. The new pop-up outdoor festival site will serve a whole host of talent including carnival, music and circus acts with plenty of food and drink available.

Below are a few shows that are coming to this bran new pop-up area, Caravanserai.

Crème de la Crème

15th – 17th May @ 9pm 20th & 21st May @ 6.30pm

FRINGE FEED ★★★★★ STAGE WHISPERS ★★★★★

After the multi-award-winning entertainment company’s success at last year’s Brighton Fringe with their sell out show Railed, Head First Acrobats return with an incredible display with their show Crème de la Crème. The show comes to Caravanserai for five nights in May.

From their spectacular shows, expect world-class acrobatics, from seasoned performers showcasing their weird and wonderful talents to great skits and physical comedy. Also expect more than a hint of cheeky nudity.

Music Takeover

11 – 14 MAY ALL DAY

From Thursday 11 May – Sunday 14 May the music takeover will erupt at the Caravanserai site. Enjoy the “prodigious young talent” (New York Times) of tuba player Theon Cross, the top secret superstar DJs at The Rocking Horse rave and check out the free all day entertainment with Global Local, the people behind Shangri La Glastonbury and Continental Drifts, in the big top tent.

THEON CROSS, 11 MAY – 19.15

Theon Cross is an award-winning tuba player and composer who is a vital component of London’s jazz scene.

CARNIVAL COLLECTIVE PRESENTS… 11 MAY, 21.00-02.00 £15

Brighton’s infamous Drum ‘n’ Bass ‘n’ Brass mash-up band brings you THE funnest night on the Fringe:

  • BRASSIC PARP playing 90’s pop classics on brass
  • SAMBAOKE Brighton’s own samba/karaoke singalong
  • CARNIVAL COLLECTIVE, a glittering pink and blue tidal wave of sound playing its trademark combo of Latin, Ska, Dub, Jungle and Funk on brass, drums, lush vocals and dirty basslines. 

Followed by special guest DJ’s so you can carry on dancing til 2am.

SLAMBOREE TAKEOVER, 12 MAY, 20.30-02.00 £12.50

Slamboree host an evening of theatrics, up-and-coming talent, live music and performance art collected from their years touring the international festival scene. Main artists are to include: Slamboree Soundsystem, Lovedogz (full live band), Reverse Wolf (live), Ashkat (live), Stirz (Slamboree), and Miss Devine.

GLOBAL LOCAL FESTIVAL, 13 MAY 11.00-02.00, FREE ENTRY

Global and UK Artists from all corners of the Global Local Project, and the people behind Shangri La Glastonbury, Caravanserai at Camp Bestival, Continental Drifts and more.

ROCKINGHORSE RAVE, 14 MAY, 16.00-00.00

The one-and-only Rockinghorse Rave is in support of Rockinghorse, a Brighton-based charity that has been supporting children in Sussex for over 50 years. The Rockinghorse Rave will be full of your favourite tunes, the very best dance moves and very special top-secret guests.

Police Cops in Space

]Police Cops come to Caravanserai with their show ‘Police Cops In Space’. The show is an 80’s ‘low-fi sci-fi’ set in the most dangerous place on Earth…Space and will be on for three nights only from 5th – 7th May. 

Mythos: Ragnarok

23rd, 24TH, 27TH, 28TH, 29th, 30th May @ 9.00pm

31st May & 1st June @ 3pm

2nd & 3rd June @ 9pm

Mythos: Ragnarok brought to you by Mythological Theatre is storytelling like no other. Gods, monsters and heroes from legend and folklore are brought to life in original stories that are based on traditional myths and tales. The show comes to Caravanserai for 10 shows in May and June.
