Chicago based rapper Goldy has revealed actor Donald Glover is the inspiration for his new single, which blends slick samples with smooth synths and catchy hooks.
“I wrote ‘Donald Glover’ a while ago and just felt like it had to be released in the summer. I made the beat for it and wrote the lyrics on the same day. I call the song, ‘Donald Glover’ because he is one of my main inspirations. He’s one of the reasons why I started making music and acting, and I felt it made sense to include his name in the song.”
The track comes from recently released debut album ORO.
Showcasing Goldy’s flawless production skills, the rising rap star sculpted the beat entirely himself, using a sample sent to him from a friend’s vinyl collection. Influenced by artists like Larry June, Freddie Gibbs, and Boldy James, Goldy’s sound in ‘Donald Glover’ reflects a blend of introspective lyricism and compelling instrumentals.
