Billy Ocean Releases Blue Vinyl to Celebrate 40 Years of Classic Album

Singer songwriter Billy Ocean will release a special blue vinyl edition of his landmark album ‘Suddenly’ to mark the 40 year anniversary of its release.

The British Trinidadian had chart success in 1976 and 1977 with ‘Love Really Hurts Without You’ and ‘Red Light Spells Danger; but the album catapulted him to new heights in both the British and American charts.

‘Caribbean Queen’ would later be rewarded with a Grammy Award for best male R&B performance.

Billy Ocean said: “It has been 40 years since we released the ‘Suddenly’ album.I’m getting goosebumps going down memory lane! I had the time of my life writing and recording this album. I still have fond memories of the excitement of recording at Unique Studios in New York. It was almost like being tested, I remember how terrible the weather was. But I was determined that nothing was going to stop me. I’ve been on quite a journey since, and I want to thank all of my fans for embracing these songs and allowing me the honour to still be performing them for you all these years later.”

His upcoming UK shows include headline sets at all three Rewind Festivals, plus the Boogie By The Sea extravaganza in Hastings alongside Sister Sledge, Soul II Soul and Boney M.
