Louis Theroux – national treasure, awkward pause connoisseur and podcast king – is back in your ears next week as The Louis Theroux Podcast returns for a much-anticipated fifth season on Tuesday 6th May.

Kicking things off with a bang, the new series opens with a no-holds-barred chat with Bella Ramsey, the scene-stealing star of HBO’s The Last of Us, who’ll sit down with Louis for what’s sure to be a deeply candid and compelling conversation. And that’s just the beginning.

Also on the guestlist this season: BRIT and Mercury Prize-winning rapper-turned-actor Little Simz, Hollywood heavyweight Sean Penn, How To with John Wilson’s deadpan genius John Wilson, and tech billionaire-turned-immortality obsessive Bryan Johnson – aka “the man who wants to live forever”. With more headline-making names still under wraps, the series is shaping up to be Theroux’s most eclectic yet.

Since launching in 2023, The Louis Theroux Podcast has established itself as one of the most consistently addictive listens in the UK and beyond – blending curiosity, depth and the occasional toe-curling silence in the way only Louis can. Now a regular fixture atop both the Spotify and Apple Podcast charts, the show has made waves for its honest, often surprising revelations.

Theroux’s distinctive style was on full display in Series Four, with eyebrow-raising interviews featuring everyone from Armie Hammer to JADE to Willem Dafoe – interviews that regularly broke through the noise and made global headlines. Previous guests have included a who’s who of culture and controversy: Barry Keoghan, Nick Cave, Tracey Emin, Sharon Stone, Paul Mescal and Mia Khalifa, just to name a few.

“I’m thrilled to be launching season 5 of The Louis Theroux Podcast,” Louis said in a typically offbeat statement. “More great guests, more unexpected conversation, more surprising revelations, with the occasional awkward pause thrown in. It’s like they used to say about Aero chocolate bars – ‘it’s the bubbles of nothing that make it really something.’”

He adds: “Please come and be part of the all-you-can-eat buffet of free-form conversation and fill your bellies with cheeky and insightful questions (and answers).”

The Louis Theroux Podcast is produced by Mindhouse for Spotify, with full episodes available on all major podcast platforms – and video versions streaming exclusively on Spotify.

Series Five drops Tuesday 6th May.
