Music: sadact Taps Into UKG Nostalgia with Emotive New Cut ‘Maybe (i)’

Brighton’s own genre-blurring producer sadact is back, following up the skippy swagger of Ragga Style with a new UK Garage heater, Maybe (i)—a track that trades the rave-ready energy for something deeper, moodier, and rich with emotional pull.

Where Ragga Style was all fire and flash, Maybe (i) opts for finesse. It’s a masterclass in restraint, merging shuffling percussion with syrupy basslines and soulful textures that hit you right in the chest. There’s a sense of intimacy here, a late-night warmth that taps directly into the golden era of UKG—think MJ Cole, Groove Chronicles, and early Artful Dodger—but with a distinctly 2025 edge.“With Maybe (i), I wanted to capture that feeling of nostalgia and emotion you get from the best UKG tunes,” sadactshares. “The kind that hit just as hard on a late-night drive as they do in the mix. It’s got that swing, that weight, but there’s a depth to it too—like the comedown after a perfect night out, when everything feels a bit more real.”It’s that duality—club-ready rhythms laced with bittersweet undertones—that makes Maybe (i) stand out. The track’s carefully layered production and warm melodic elements create a sense of introspection, yet it still bumps with the kind of low-end pressure that demands a soundsystem. It’s no surprise sadact is fast becoming one of the most intriguing voices in the UK underground. His ability to blur the lines between nostalgia and innovation is rare—and Maybe (i) is a prime example. It’s a track that feels just as at home in a sweaty 2AM set as it does soundtracking your twilight taxi ride home.Expect Maybe (i) to become a staple this summer—from sun-baked festival tents to warehouse floors and everything in between. One for the heads, no doubt.
