Music: LE BRUIT Announce Debut AA-Side 7-Inch Vinyl: Idle Hands / Au Solde des Nuits

Anglo-French outfit LE BRUIT have released their debut AA-side 7-inch, Idle Hands / Au Solde des Nuits, via Rough Trade — a release that introduces their stripped-back, atmospheric take on modern rock. Mixing post-rock textures with minimalist songwriting and dual vocals, the trio’s sound is equal parts stark and immersive.

At the core are Tom and Johanna, whose vocals — trading off in English and French — bring both tension and balance. Their music sits somewhere between shoegaze, noir folk, and the more restrained corners of post-punk, drawing on influence without feeling weighed down by it.

Side A: Idle Hands
Built around a slow-moving baritone guitar line and reverb-heavy drums, Idle Hands unfolds with a sense of steady unease. Named Absolute Radio UK’s Self-Released Song of the Month in November 2024, it’s already gained traction across UK, European and US radio. Presenter Danielle Perry praised its “mystique, beautiful songwriting, and atmosphere” — all accurate descriptions, though the track’s strength lies in its subtlety.

Side AA: Au Solde des Nuits
Sung in both French and English, Au Solde des Nuits leans into the quieter end of LE BRUIT’s sound — intimate, minimal, and emotionally sharp. Gospel-style harmonies appear briefly, undercutting the stillness with warmth. The lyrics reflect on distance and absence, carried more by tone than narrative.

With this first release, LE BRUIT offer something spare but affecting — a debut that doesn’t overreach, but instead lets space, tone and atmosphere do the heavy lifting. One to keep an eye on.

Idle Hands / Au Solde des Nuits is available now on limited 7-inch vinyl via Rough Trade.
