Lucia Cifarelli was born and raised in Long Island. She developed her love of singing, songwriting and performing as a child. Her new single ‘Girls Like Me’ is the first single from her forthcoming album “I Am Eye’.

Inspired by the diverse sisterhood Lucia has come to know on tour and through her engagement on social media, the song is a celebration of all that is feminine,, dark, joyous and wild.
Lucia invited women round the world to send her videos of themselves which she has cut together with her own, sharing this message of love, solidarity, and women celebrating each other in all their messy, glorious diversity for the official music video.
Q: Hey there Lucia, how are you?
A: I’m great actually! Lockdown has finally been lifted where I am and I’ve just released my first new solo material in a very long time . It’s not only a period of rebirth for the world, but for me personally.
Q: We are almost halfway through 2021, how has the year been for you so far?
A: It’s been quite a busy year so far. I hit the road running as the clock struck 12 on January 1st, 2021. Between finishing my album, making videos and dealing with all the technical aspects that need to be sorted out in order to deliver a proper release, I’ve had my hands full juggling more than I’m used to. That being said I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m working with an incredible team of people and having the time of my life. Because I’ve invested myself in every aspect of the process, its been twice as rewarding. I can’t wait to see what the next half of the year holds. Hopefully more of the same!
Q: Did you want to be a singer at an early age, what prompted this decision? How did you get into singing?
A: For as long as I can remember I wanted to be a singer/songwriter touring the world, a bigger than life rockstar. As a child I was a real ham. I’d pose in the mirror and sing along to the radio or put on little shows with my friends, write lyrics and short stories in my composition notebook. I always knew in my heart exactly what I wanted to do, I just had to figure out how to get there. I thought a good first step would be to start taking voice lessons. Since we always had a copy of The Village Voice hanging around, I found my first teacher in there.
My sister and I were looking through the classifieds one day and I said, “how do I know which teacher to choose”? She said “Close your eyes, run your finger along the page and then stop when you’re ready. Whoever your finger lands on will be the one”.
My finger landed on a woman named Tania Travers. I began my training with her when I was 14. I’d take the train from Long Island into the city after school and make my way to her upper west side apartment. Looking back it all feels fated, because Tania would be the one to introduce me to music producer Ric Wake, who later not only signed me to his production company but secured my first record deal at A&M Records for my band DRILL. He was the first person in the music business to believe in me and give me a shot. He figures importantly in the narrative of my humble beginnings. Had my finger not stopped over Tania’s name I might never have met him.
Q: How would you describe your work?
A: Divinely inspired performance art. I approach music the way a fine artist approaches a canvas, but instead of using paint and brushes, I use voice, words and sound. When I’m in the moment creating, I feel more like a shape shifting channeler than a musician. Instead of playing chords I’m putting loops together, while chasing melodies and lyrics that are racing round my head. Once an album is complete and it’s time to tour, a secondary aspect of expression presents itself, the performer. Although shows are well rehearsed beforehand, there’s a certain amount of spontaneity that happens each night, depending on the emotional weather that changes from day to day. The moment I step on stage and the rush of music floods my system, Its like a switch is flipped and I’m in turbo mode
Q: What do you want people to take away from it?
A: I hope that by sharing who I am, I inspire and energize people to be the hero of their own story. Although the songs are a mirror for each person to interpret in their own way, I hope they feel the magic woven throughout the album, because within each song lives the fierce and fearless spirit of a warrior, valiantly battling through life’s obstacles against all odds, lionhearted. I hope the takeaway is to rise like a phoenix, from whatever circumstance they find themselves in.
Q: What inspires you and who are your influences?
A: I’m inspired by the human spirit, art, musicians philosphers, film, the magic of this world and beyond.

A: Be bold, brave & courageous. Stay humble, stay hungry
