FRANKIE BOYLE along with some of Scotland’s very best comedians are coming together for one night only to support actor and comedy legend Raymond Mearns who suffered a stroke last week.

Described by Frankie Boyle as “a genuine improvisational genius” Mearns is well known for performing at venues all across the UK and frequently on the International Circuit. Recently he found success on Tiktok as character Glesga Da with over 15M views.

The  Limmy’s show and BBC Radio Scotland’s Breaking the News star cancelled his run of shows at the Edinburgh Fringe with real financial impact – prompting stars of the Scottish comedy scene to get together to help their fellow comic.

Comedian Jay Lafferty who has organised the Stand-Up For Raymond charity event along with fellow comedian and “son” of Glesga Da Stuart Mitchell says: “We have pulled together one of the very best line-ups of the Edinburgh Festival which proves the love there is for Raymond. We want people to purchase a ticket so we can support him to take the time he needs to recover. Basically so that he sits on his arse. £20 is a real steal for this line-up”.

Mitchell said: “Raymond has consistently been one of the top live stand-up comedians in the country for many years! He also makes a fantastic coffee! He is the master at keeping his material fresh, relevant and most of all extremely funny. I am excited to see what he says about all this on stage when he makes a full recovery. We are asking people to purchase a ticket for a great night of comedy that supports a fantastic man”.

Already confirmed for the charity fundraiser on Tuesday 22nd August at the Freemasons’ Hall in Edinburgh along with Frankie Boyle are Fred MacAaulay, Susie McCabe, Mark Nelson, Jo Caufield, Chris Forbes, Gary Little and many more very special guests to be announced.

Tickets are priced at only £20 and can be purchased online at https://www.thestand.co.uk/fringe/1785/stand-up-for-raymond-with-frankie-boyle-susie-mccabe-and-more

There is also a Go Fund Me page where people can donate to Raymond at https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-raymond-mearns?utm_campaign=m_pd+share-sheet&utm_content=undefined&utm_medium=copy_link_all&utm_source=customer&utm_term=undefined
