Beavertown Corner Pin

Beavertown, the London brewery who introduced us to their delish Neck Oil and Gamma Ray beers, are to open The Corner Pin, a three storey pub with a beer garden. Located opposite Tottenham stadium, there has been a Corner Pin pub on the site for the best part of half a century. More recently, it was a ticket office for Spurs. Apparently, back in the day, Spurs players used to drop by for a refresher or two after matches. Although we strongly suspect that modern day training methods will preclude Harry Kane or Davinson Sanchez from nashing in for a post-match sharpener during the new season.

Abandon Ship Glasgow

Many hospitality workers have indeed abandoned ship over the last eighteen months but some operators have ridden out the Covid storm and are looking to the future. Just about to launch in Glasgow, Abandon Ship Bar on Mitchell Street is the latest venture from the MacMerry 300 group. Taking over the former So L.A. premises, the new bar will also sell Abandon Ship Apparel – think cool street clothing. Cocktails, craft beers and finger-lickin’ American grub are also promised alongside the snappy duds. MacMerry 300’s other operations include the original Abandon Ship in Dundee plus The Luchador in Glasgow. An Abandon Ship Bar is also rumoured to be plotting a course for Covent Garden.

The Rolling Mill

Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter is gearing up to welcome a new restaurant and bar: The Rolling Mill. On the junction of Warstone Lane and Hall Street, the spacious premises will boast a covered courtyard and heated mezzanine rooftop as well as indoor dining space. The new dining spot is the latest project from the team behind the city’s Hens and Chickens, a popular destination for those who like cask ale and curries.

Johnnie Walker

Diageo’s Johnnie Walker Princes Street, the eight-floor new visitor experience for the world’s best-selling Scotch whisky, has today been launched in the heart of Scotland’s capital city. The centre is a part of a £185 million investment which Diageo is making in its Scottish distilleries and visitor facilities. Dram fans will be able take tutored tastings as well as browsing and purchasing rare and exclusive bottlings. The 1820 Rooftop bar with views of Edinburgh Castle is likely to be a hot ticket and live events and performances are promised in centre’s Label Studio. Make ours a double!

3 Henrietta Street

In Covent Garden, 3 Henrietta Street is about to enjoy a new lease of life as it hosts three new restaurants plus a flagship coffee house from The Gentlemen Baristas. On the first floor, chef Mark Greenaway will launch his Pivot restaurant with a menu that changes on a monthly basis to make the most of seasonal produce. In the basement, Cuban chef Louis Pous will be rattling the pans in El Ta’Koy. Guests can tuck into dishes inspired by the Pacific Rim, from the Tiki bars of Hawaii to the sushi restaurants of Tokyo. Pastry chef Kimberly Lin will be helming Lilly’s, an upmarket all-day cafe on the ground floor.
