When Did The World Get So Dumb? Beldon Haigh Explains It All

The band Beldon Haigh are posing for a promo shot on a sofa they are a 6 piece band and 3 of them are wearing masks of people and one is wearing a mask of a parrot

If there was ever a time we needed an anthem for the proletariat, it’s now. In an era of whimsical politics, rampant corruption and, well, let’s face it, utter chaos, Beldan Haigh is speaking up about it. The Scottish band’s upcoming single ‘World Got So Dumb’ is the call to action we’ve been needing.

This titular track of Beldon Haigh’s upcoming album, mercilessly pokes fun at the “whales” that are running the show and hones in the hard truth that we, the “plankton” are helpless to their whims. However, Beldon Haigh refuses to be defeated and instead reminds us it’s time to take it back.

And ‘World Got So Dumb’ is exactly that. The hard-hitting lyricism is driven by a soundscape swimming in ska, reggae, and rock influences. Justin Skelton’s slick guitars sail through it all, as sax lines punctuate his rebellious vocals. The impressive lineup of musicians includes Fiona Lynch and Lindsey Cleary on vocals, Dru Baker on keyboard and horn, Jimmy Green on guitar, and Jon Howells on drums.

The renowned Scottish band has amassed a global fan base since its conception in 2017. Accumulating over 300,000 followers across social media channels and over 21,000 subscribers on YouTube, their humorous, politically critical videos stack up millions of views each. Their signature political satire is made all the more poignant through the masks of Kim Jong Un, Trump, and Putin they don in their visuals and live shows. Just in case we had any doubt as to what they stand for, these masks, made by Llandon Meier, cement what Beldon Haigh is all about. Protest songs for the people… that will also make you laugh.
