The vibrant sounds of New Zealand are set to descend upon Brighton as the New Zealand Music Commission proudly present “New Zealand @ The Great Escape 2024,” a showcase of some of the finest musical talents from the land of the long white cloud. Held at Patterns Downstairs on Thursday, May 16th, the event features a lineup of four exceptional artists, each bringing their unique blend of sounds to captivate audiences.

Kicking off the afternoon is the captivating songstress Kylie Price. With roots tracing back to the picturesque landscapes of New Zealand and the vibrant culture of the Philippines, Kylie mesmerises crowds with her seamless blend of deeply emotional lyricism and irresistible hooks. Having soared to the top of the charts with singles like “Perfect” and “Stay,” Kylie’s performance is set to showcase her evolution as both a remarkable singer and a skilled songwriter with a global perspective.

Following Kylie is the explosive energy of Dartz. Hailing from rural New Zealand, Dartz will bring their unique brand of pub-punk to the stage, delivering fast-paced guitar-driven anthems with razor-sharp lyrics. With their latest album, “Dangerous Day To Be A Cold One,” debuting at #1 on the NZ album charts, Dartz are a force to be reckoned with, tackling everything from small-town tales to hard-hitting social issues with wit and honesty.

Also on the line up is Tom Lark, the indie sensation whose sunburnt psychedelic folk will resonate sensitive cowboys and dreamers alike. With influences ranging from indie sensibilities to pop indulgence. Rounding off the afternoon is the heavy psych rock duo Earth Tongue. With guitarist Gussie Larkin’s mastery of fuzz-smothered riffs and Ezra Simons’ off-kilter drumming, expect a powerful, cult-like experience. Their debut album, “Floating Being,” quickly became an underground hit, earning praise from BBC 6 Music and headbangers worldwide. As they gear up for the release of their sophomore album and embark on extensive European festival appearances, Earth Tongue continues to solidify their place in the global music scene.

With a lineup as diverse and talented as this, “New Zealand @ The Great Escape 2024” showcases the richness and diversity of New Zealand’s music scene, leaving an indelible mark on audiences in Brighton and beyond.
