We catch up with Cassy to talk about how 2022’s been for her so far, her sound and musical influences, and what’s in store next.

Can you tell us about yourself?

Hi! I’m Cassy London! I’m a pop artist based out of Los Angeles, but you could find bouncing around between LA, Toronto, Orange County or Stockholm! I’m addicted to all things creative and very much involved with every part of the process from songwriting to visuals.

I grew up listening to such a wide variety of genres and artists that I’ve picked up a little bit of everything from thanks to my parents! I had my first show at 6 years old singing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ by Celine Dion and I can honestly say at that moment my soul was set on pursuing music which is exactly what happened!

Music has taken me all of the world and I feel very fortunate to have worked alongside some incredible artists. My latest single ‘Yellow Bricks’ is the second release this year!

How has 2022 been for you so far?

2022 has been great! I started off the year with my first single ‘New Age’, which in itself was a whole journey. The making of music video was a really special experience, it was fun take on the role of directing and producing this time. The aesthetic and vibe was definitely a little left field from what I had been doing before, but it really felt like the right moment for it.

I followed soon after with deciding on the second single which ultimately was ‘Yellow Bricks’, I don’t know about you, but I can’t believe it’s already November, this year has gone by pretty quick!

What inspired you to make music a career?

I think the decision was made at about 5 years old no joke! People always ask me how I knew, and my response is that music chose me. I didn’t have a doubt in my mind, the feelings are the same now as they were then!

Who are your greatest musical influences?

I can list quite a bit but, Celine Dion, Imagine Dragons, No Doubt, Stevie Nicks, Coldplay and Kate Bush are a few..

Describe your sound in three words.

Tough one! I’d say dynamic, vibrant, and anthemic.

You had an exclusive performance on MTV Jammin series. Can you tell us about this?

Yes! I’ve been a huge fan of MTV for as long as I can remember, so when I heard they wanted to add me to the Jammin series I definitely had to pinch myself!

I sang acoustic versions of my songs ‘Old School’, ‘Carousel’, and ‘Suburbs’ in my bedroom! They wanted to give listeners a raw experience which is something MTV captures so well, and watching an artist in their private space gives a whole other level of connection I was excited about sharing.

Your new single ‘Yellow Bricks’ was released earlier this month. What is this track about?

‘Yellow Bricks’ symbolizes having the confidence to build and follow your own road, while up against the people that want to stand between you and your greatness. It always seems like there are those people who don’t like what you’re doing and want to push you down. It’s about not looking back, not getting caught up in the noise, just keep walking!

You also released ‘New Age’ earlier this year. How was this single received by listeners?

The message of ‘New Age’ has always been really important to me. It’s about loving one another, holding onto optimism, having hope for our future, and feeling powerful, not powerless in the face of change.

Power 98 radio in Singapore was one of the first to show support; they highlighted ‘New Age’ and made me Spotlight Artist of the month, so it felt pretty amazing to hear that people were relating and connecting with the song in their own way.

What is next for you? Any plans for the rest of 2022/early 2023?

I’m in the process of creating my live show for these new songs, and finishing up other singles as well that will be released throughout 2023. I’m looking forward to getting on the road to perform and I have some really exciting projects to share at the top of the new year! Thanks for having me! Great to meet you guys!
