Irem Bekter Continues Her Global Musical Journey With New Single

How do we find you today? Where are you currently?!

Thanks for taking an interest in my music! I’m originally from North Dakota but relocated to Minneapolis MN so I’ve been excited about the coming summer in a new city.

How would you describe your music?

Moon Worm has been an extension of my thoughts and experiences throughout my life so it’s probably no surprise that I feel my music evokes a dreamy existential feeling! I’ve often wondered about our place in this world and what our lives really mean, my music has always reflected this constant struggle of not knowing paired with a dreamlike musical production style.

Who are your favourite artists and bands right now?

An ever-evolving list for any musician! In the past I favor the sounds of Beach House, M83, Tame Impala, and Mac Demarco. Recently I’ve been getting deep into Current Joys, Broadcast, Alvvays, and Dreams We’ve Had who is also out of Minneapolis.

If you could collaborate with anyone (living or dead!) who would they be and why?

Daft Punk for sure. I already have the helmet vibe going with Moon Worm and they leave plenty of room for vocals!

Your EP ‘Midnight Audio’ and the single of the same name are out now. How would you describe each song?

‘Midnight Audio’ is a cinematic journey that tries to examine what really matters in our short lives and tries to paint the picture of forgetting the past to enjoy the now.

‘Dopamine’ is a bass driven track that lets you down at your highest and builds you up at your lowest, everything happens for a reason even if you may not realize why at the time.

‘These Games’ is all about overthinking and anxiety when it comes to relationships in today’s era, an upbeat track for the nervous soul.

‘Meet Me There’ is an upbeat synth parade that follows a thought process of expectations vs. reality.

What does the rest of 2023 hold for Moon Worm? Any future plans?

I couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come in 2023! I’ll have new music releasing consistently over the remainder of the year with accompanying music videos. I’m working with a new team to help my music reach new fans and most of all I’m excited to see and talk with everyone who has already shown love and support to this project, I can’t thank them enough!
