I Dig You, is the new album release from The Dinosaur’s Skin – a Taiwan pop duo whose dinosaur themed gigs are a riot. We caught up with Trex to find out more about the jurassic twosome and their musical journey.
How did your musical project/band first start? Is there a story to tell about it?
We are the last two remaining dinosaurs on earth Trex and Triceratops, in a band, and this is how it all started: 65 million years ago, we were just chilling when, out of nowhere, an asteroid hit the Earth. The sky turned dark, and chaos erupted. As we ran for our lives, we were suddenly sucked into a wormhole and thrown into the modern human world. That’s when we found out all our dinosaur friends were dead and we decided to make music to mourn for them. Also to become famous and find our remaining dinosaur friends.
What was your first gig?
Our first gig was at a second-hand market festival in Taiwan. We played for a handful of random people, most of whom had no idea what was going on. Fast forward to today, and we’ve played on stages all across the world for thousands of human friends—it’s been a wild ride.
How has your music been received by fans?
Our shows are a full-on dinosaur-human celebration. Human friends came, dinosaur friends came (or maybe they are human friends dressed up as dinosaurs we can’t really tell) and by the end, we’re all crying, laughing, and dancing together. Music has this incredible way of bringing people together, no matter their species, race, or language, and that’s the world we are trying to build, where dinosaurs and humans coexist in peace.
What three words best describe your musical style and why?
Prehistoric, Nostalgic, Jurassic.
Our music captures the rawness of our dinosaur past (prehistoric), blends it with a longing for what’s been lost (nostalgic), and adds a touch of grandeur and adventure (Jurassic, but we’re actually from the Cretaceous period, ). It’s a mix of everything that makes dinosaurs dinosaurs.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
Oh, there are so many! Dayglow, Ginger Root, Still Woozy, Men I Trust, Summer Salt… the list goes on. These were some of the first music we heard after arriving in human society. We’re all about that dreamy indie bedroom pop vibe mixed with funky grooves—it just feels right
Tell us about your new release.
Our debut album, I Dig You, is finally here after 65 million years.
It’s a playful yet heartfelt journey through time and space, blending indie rock, bedroom pop, dream pop, and more. It’s packed with absurd humor, love, and reflections on identity. We’ve collaborated with amazing artists like Limbo, Waa Wei, and Summer Salt to create something we think everyone can connect with. It’s about finding your place in the universe and digging deep—literally and figuratively, also a love letter to our human friends, because.. I dig you.
What inspires your lyrics?
A mix of dinosaur adventures and human emotions. Love, loss, identity, and the struggle to evolve in a world that keeps moving forward. They are fairytales filled with modern-day metaphors, prehistoric science-fictions that travel through time and space.
How do you hope listeners will feel after hearing your music?
We hope it makes them feel everything—happy, sad, nostalgic, and full of love. We believe that It is ok to be different, and If we can inspire peace, kindness, and a little more empathy in the world, then we’ve done our job.
Do you have any upcoming tour dates?
Yes! We’re kicking things off with HOODINI FEST on December 10th in Bangkok, and in 2025, we are doing a full movie-concert, mixing movie showing and live music in Taipei on January 11th, 2025, followed by dates in Southeast Asia with stops in Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia.
What are you working on next?
We’re diving into the movie concert, working on our upcoming film I Dig You: The Mystery of the Dinosaur Mummy, and planning the tour. Plus, we’ve got a few music videos in the works, we can’t wait to share them with all of our human friends.

Living in the human world is hard. For dinosaurs, and also for humans too. We know what it’s like to feel out of place, to feel like you don’t belong, that’s why we make music—to connect, to heal, and to remind everyone that no matter where you’re from, who you are, or when you lived, we’re all just hearts beating underneath different skins.
