Betty Taylor Share Indie Pop Gem ‘Sucker Punch’ Ahead of UK and Ireland Dates
Betty Taylor return this November with their new single Sucker Punch, set for release on November 5. The track follows a run of successful releases that have helped the Australian four-piece earn over three million streams and a growing international following across the UK and US.

Co-written with Australian producer Robby De Sa (grentperez, The Veronicas, Blusher), Sucker Punch captures the rush of falling for someone when you least expect it. “This is a story about swearing off dating and being content on your own, only to suddenly meet someone who changes everything,” says singer Sophie Patrick. “It’s like BAM, you meet someone out of nowhere and you’re like ‘oh wow you’re amazing’, but also ‘oh no, this wasn’t part of the plan and I don’t want to get my heart broken again.’”

Fronted by Sophie Patrick, with Kayla Smart (aka Dorah Jacson) on guitar and harmonies, Claire Chittick on bass and Katie Ishaque on drums, Betty Taylor have quickly evolved from open mic nights in backyards to one of Australia’s most promising indie pop acts. Their debut single Stallin’, produced by Aidan Hogg (G Flip, Holy Holy), premiered on triple j and has since amassed close to a million streams.

Since then, the band have joined global agency WME, shared stages with girl in red, Beddy Rays and The Rubens, and toured the UK and Europe with The Grogans. Their second single Glitter and follow-up tracks Can’t Get Enough and Young Dumb Immature all earned strong triple j support and major playlist placements on Spotify, Apple and YouTube, including features on Fresh Finds, Indie Arrivals and New Music Friday.

Their debut EP Young Dumb Immature also found success in the US, charting on both NACC and SubModern radio charts. Earlier this year, they made their SXSW debut in Austin, playing to packed rooms and gaining further momentum as an international act to watch.

With a growing reputation for their heartfelt lyrics and warm, nostalgic energy, Betty Taylor continue to build a dedicated following around the world. The band have now announced their return to the UK for a headline tour with a date in Ireland, alongside support slots for Dylan Flynn and The Dead Poets on two Irish shows. “We are so excited to come back to the UK to play to new audiences and meet new fans,” they said in a statement.
